Alcemi, developer of some of the UK’s biggest projects, has entered the Romanian battery storage market, while Slovakia’s biggest project to date has gone into operation.
It’s been a busy week for the large-scale energy storage market in Poland, with projects moved to construction and delivery by EDF Power Solutions & Eurus Energy Europe, Eiffel Investment Group & Ergy, R.Power Renewables, and EDP.
Energy companies are accelerating battery storage deployment in Romania, with Aukera, ENEVO Group and Kraftfeld Energy, and PPC Renewables Romania announcing significant project developments.
There’s been a flurry of project completions across Europe this past week, with projects completed in Germany, Estonia, Belgium, Denmark and Bulgaria by RheinEnergie/SMA, BSP, BStor, European Energy and Sunotec respectively, totalling nearly 700MWh of capacity.
Activity in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) continues to accelerate, with two separate c.600MWh projects completed in Bulgaria by Solarpro & CATL and Sunotec and Sungrow, plus around 800MWh of capacity progressed across Romania, Estonia, Lithuania, and Finland.
The Czech Republic’s fourth pumped hydro energy storage plant is to be built within an existing hydropower complex, converting convention run-of-river into reversible units, creating 750MWh of energy storage capacity.
IPP Greenvolt has put a 99.8MW/288.6MWh BESS into commercial operation in Hungary, the largest in the country, while pipelines and projects have been progressed in Italy, France, Netherlands, Belgium and Spain.
Rolls-Royce and Fluence have secured BESS orders in Latvia and Poland, respectively, while CATL has partnered with Merus Power for 3GWh of deployments across Northern Europe.
EDF Power Solutions has commissioned a 50MW/120MWh BESS project in Poland, Eurus has done the same in Hungary, while NGEN and Aretis Group have financed and enlisted optimisers (respectively) for projects in Hungary, Romania, Poland, Slovenia and Latvia.
