Greenvolt secures finance package for two Poland BESS projects
IPP Greenvolt has secured a €218 million financing package from bank UniCredit for its two major battery energy storage systems (BESS) in Poland, each 200MW/800MWh.
The package comprises a bridge facility and guarantee facility and will support project costs associated with the Ełk and Turośń BESS projects. Turośń was inaugurated in July while Ełk will come online in Q4 this year. BYD is supplying the BESS for both projects, while Entrix will optimise.

They are part of a 1.2GW portfolio of projects that Greenvolt won capacity market (CM) contracts for in 2023, with obligations starting in 2028. The CM is the bedrock of the business case for most large-scale BESS in Poland.
Greenvolt is also one of the main players in large-scale BESS in Hungary, where it inaugurated the country’s largest project in June, and in Italy, where it won a MACSE contract for a 75MW/600MWh BESS (subscription required).
Enlight buys Finland BESS from Korkia
Developer Korkia has sold a 125MW ready-to-build BESS in Finland to IPP Enlight.
The sale was completed by Korkia Semecon Finland Renewables, a joint venture between Korkia and fellow developer Semecon. The Kukonkylä project is in Sievi, Northern Ostrobothnia, Finland.
Under Enlight’s ownership, Kukonkylä is set to connect to Finland’s transmission grid by H1 2028. The IPP is also active in BESS in the US and Spain.
UAB Elesela reaches financial close on 20MWh Lithuania BESS
Developer UAB Elesela has reached financial close with a non-recourse financing package from Artea Bank for its Klaipėda 20MWh BESS project in Lithuania. It has appointed China-based system integrator ZEO Energy Storage to deliver the project, with commissioning expected to begin on 20 January 2027.
Capalo AI to optimise Lithuanian and Latvia hybrid projects
Developer and IPP European Energy has enlisted Finland-based optimiser to trade and monetise two solar-plus-storage projects in Lithuania and Latvia totalling 140MW solar and 71MW/170MWh of BESS.
The deal covers the 78MW solar, 25MW/65MWh BESS Anykščiai hybrid park in Lithuania and the 65.7MW solar, 46MW/105MWh Saldus Hybrid Park in Latvia. Anykščiai went online in June while Saldus will be completed in the second half of this year.
European Energy has previously completed two large solar-plus-storage projects in its home country of Denmark, optimised by Danske Commodities.
Capalo has had success in expanding out of Finland into the Baltic region, also winning separate optimisation contracts in Lithuania and in Latvia in the past year.
GEN-I enlists EPC Waldemar for Romania project
GEN-I Sonce has enlisted EPC firm Waldevar Energy to build a 55MW/220MWh BESS in Gheorgheni, Romania.
GEN-I has historically been focused on trading energy but recent announcements show it moving into full ownership of BESS projects in Romania.
It recently completed two BESS projects in neighbouring Bulgaria with system integrator Sunotec, totalling 50MW/126MWh and 150MW/379MWh respectively.
