Winners at last year’s glittering ceremony included Developer of the Year Zenobe Energy, System Integrator of the Year Fluence, and Gore Street Capital CEO Alex O’Cinneide, who took home the inaugural Outstanding Contribution Award.

We’ve been able to scale up the ESAs for 2024, just as the industry continues to scale up, and from 12 categories last year, we will be presenting trophies across 21 different categories—helping us to give deserved recognition for the likes of law firms, safety products, M&A deals, and long-duration energy storage (LDES) technologies.

So, we’re excited to reveal the first wave of shortlisted nominees across 17 of those categories. The judges are still deliberating on the Breakthrough R&D/Innovation of the Year Award, Newcomer/Start-up of the Year Award, Product of the Year Award and the Rising Star of the Year Award categories, which will follow soon.

Who’s on the shortlists for 2024?

Let’s hear from Energy Storage Awards 2023 winners

“It has always been and remains a privilege to work with one of the most important asset classes there is within the transition to a low carbon society,” said Gore Street Capital Alex O’Cinneide after winning the Outstanding Contribution trophy in 2023.

“I’ve been a renewable energy investor for many years and energy storage is the most complex and rewarding technology I’ve come across in what it can achieve to move us towards a sustainable future,” O’Cinneide said.

“Habitat Energy has pioneered a merchant-first approach to battery optimisation since we first launched in 2017 and it’s very gratifying to have our success recognised by a panel of independent industry experts at the inaugural Energy Storage Awards, especially in such a competitive category,” said Dr Ben Irons, co-founder and director of Habitat Energy, which picked up the 2023 award for Trading and Optimisation Team of the Year.

“These awards are strong external proof points of the value that Fluence’s ecosystem of products is bringing to our customers around the world,” said Andrew Gilligan, senior director of commercial strategy at Fluence, which swept the Product of the Year and System Integrator of the Year Awards.

“We are deeply appreciative of these awards as they bring increased visibility to the innovative solutions that Fluence and our customers are delivering around the world to help enable the clean energy transition.”
