Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC), part of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), has offered to transfer its lithium-ion cell technology to Indian companies to support them in establishing domestic cell production facilities.
VSSC has issued a request for qualification (RfQ) to qualify and shortlist suitable industries in India. The technology transfer will be on a non-exclusive basis.
A release from the Department of Space said this initiative is expected to contribute to India’s Zero Emission Policy and accelerate the development of the domestic EV industry.
Earlier this week, Indian clean energy firm Raasi Solar Power signed an MoU with two research institutes with an aim to use their technology to set up a lithium ion cell manufacturing facility in the southern state of Tamil Nadu.
