A flurry of project completions, financings and supplier deals for large-scale BESS across the Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) region, from Greenvolt, Renovatio & CATL, Eurowind, Renalfa, MOL Group, Tavion, MetaWealth and Enexus & Longi.
The announcements come with the Energy Storage Summit Central and Eastern Europe 2026 right around the corner, taking place on 6-7 October in Warsaw, Poland.
Renovatio Solar and CATL to deploy 918MWh Romania BESS for Greenvolt
Construction is underway on a 918MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) project in Romania, one of the country’s largest. The owner is IPP Greenvolt, while Renovatio Solar is providing EPC services and lithium-ion giant CATL will provide the BESS technology. The project will reportedly be completed within 12 months.
Eurowind completes 120MWh project in Romania
IPP Eurowind Energy Romania, through vehicle Teiuș Solar SRL, has completed and commissioned its 120MWh BESS in Teiuș, Alba County. It started building the project in March this year, with a total investment of €21 million (US$24 million).

Enexus orders 50MWh of BESS from Longi for Romania project
Developer and EPC firm Enexus will use 50MWh of BESS from solar PV giant Longi for two solar-plus-storage projects in Romania. The companies have collaborated on solar PV projects previously, but the 15MWh and 35MWh BESS projects in Dâmbovița County mark the first storage collaboration between them.
Longi only recently entered the BESS space, with the acquisition of system integrator PotisEdge late last year.
MetaWealth finances first Romanian BESS
Real estate investment platform MetaWealth has completed a €19 million financing structure for its first BESS, a 50MW/100MWh project, also in Romania. It comprises €10 million from CEC bank, €5.5 million from the founding Topolinski family, and €3.5 million from its securitisation and bond platform, which an executive explained to us in a recent interview.
Renalfa IPP repowers, adds BESS to Bulgaria solar plant
Renalfa IPP has completed the repowering and hybridisation of its Devnya PV plant in Northeastern Bulgaria. It has increased the plant’s capacity from 5MWp to 65MWp and added a BESS totalling 60MW/165MWh. Solarpro was the EPC contractor.

MOL Group completes solar-plus-storage in Hungary
Industrial firm MOL Group has completed a 37.4MWp solar, 20MW/40MWh BESS project in Hungary, called Algyő. The project benefitted from funds under Hungary’s EU-backed capex grant scheme for storage, head of communications Ambrus Halász said in a video on LinkedIn (image below).
Tavion raises €50 million for Polish BESS projects
BESS owner-operator Tavion has raised €50 million in a fundraise and debt raise, which will go towards completing three projects in Poland totalling a combined 69MW. Leitmotif and Oberon Capital led the fundraise, which totalled €34 million, and construction will start on the first two projects this month. They are part of a 184MW portfolio Tavion intends to deploy in Poland.
