Tesla reported record energy storage deployments and business segment profits in Q3 2025, just ahead of a shareholder vote on CEO Elon Musk’s historic remuneration package.  

Tesla announced its new integrated 20MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) solution, the Tesla Megablock, on 8 September in Las Vegas, US.

Tesla energy storage division saw its highest quarterly gross profits as the company’s automotive business continued to see dampened demand.

State-owned energy company Stanwell has confirmed the arrival of Tesla Megapack 2XL units at its 300MW/1,200MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) at Stanwell Power Station in Queensland, Australia.

Tesla’s energy storage business continued to grow in Q1 2025 even as profits and vehicle sales fell, but faces greater exposure to trade tariff risks than its automotive segment.

Tesla and Sumitomo Electric have both been selected to supply energy storage projects in Japan. Tesla will supply Megapacks for a BESS project while Sumitomo will deploy a 12MWh vanadium flow battery.

Tesla has reported record quarterly and full-year deployment figures for its Megapack and Powerwall battery storage products in its latest financial results. 

Tesla has started trial production at its Megapack assembly plant in Shanghai, China, state-owned news reported this week (31 December).

“It won’t be long” before Tesla’s stationary energy storage business is shipping 100GWh a year, CEO Elon Musk has claimed.
