Developer and IPP Elevate Renewables will deploy a grid-forming BESS at a fossil fuel peaker plant in Connecticut, US, with US$27.5 million from the Department of Energy (DOE).
While there is much more variety in the BESS supply landscape today, there are relatively few suppliers able to offer products for ‘grid-forming, enduring infrastructure assets’, developer and operator Dais Energy’s CEO said.
Germany-headquartered utility and IPP RWE will build a 7.5MW/11MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) in the Netherlands with grid-forming inertia capabilities.
