21 February 2020: Ginlong launches ‘intelligent hybrid platform’ into US market

PV string inverter provider Ginlong Technologies has launched its Smart Home Solis Solution energy storage inverter into the US market.

The new storage inverter has a claimed 98.4% efficiency and is available from 5kW to 10kW, incorporating single-phase string inverter technology into what Ginlong said is an “intelligent hybrid platform to support maximum self-consumption [of solar energy], safely and reliably”. It is able to handle up to four DC inputs from two maximum power point trackers (MPPTs).

Ginlong first announced its devices are compatible with LG Chem’s RESU home battery systems in December last year and now says it is compatible with a range of low-voltage lithium battery systems from other manufacturers in the 120V to 500V range.

It works to deliver applications including backup power and time-of-use through a number of operating modes. It also comes with a 24-hour intelligent energy management system that Ginlong claims enables “streamlined O&M through remote monitoring”.

As reported by PV Tech late last year, Ginlong (Solis), headquartered in Ningbo, is one of the larger Chinese inverter players on the international market, charting in the top three Chinese inverter exporters in 2018.

21 February 2020: Sunnova, Generac’s new partnership includes 25-year service agreement

Following the recent release of Generac’s PWRcell home battery system, claimed to be the “highest storage capacity available” for homeowners, the company has partnered with residential solar and storage company Sunnova for leasing and power purchase agreements (PPAs).

While Generac is partnering with several providers, Sunnova said that its strategic agreement with the manufacturer makes Sunnova the sole provider of a 25-year service agreement for the PWRcell. As reported in a January edition of the Energy-Storage.news roundup, PWRcell can be configured from 8.6kWh up to 34.2kWh.

The partners are offering the systems as through Sunnova’s various financing programmes, including lease, PPA and loans through Sunnova approved vendors. Contractors will sell the systems using Generac’s design and quoting platform in the US and other territories.

24 February 2020: Growatt prepares for storage market lift-off

Another China-headquartered international inverter market player, Growatt, has introduced its new XH series of storage ready inverters that works with a low voltage battery.

The XH series has a battery interface which can be easily extended later to a storage system without retrofit cost, providing home owners who are looking to convert their rooftop PV systems into solar storage systems in the future.

The Growatt MIN 2500-6000TL-XH storage ready inverters are claimed to be the most up-to-date solution for residential PV systems in the industry. It has two MPP trackers and 1.4 DC/AC ratio.

Its string current can reach 12.5A and is compatible with bifacial modules. For system monitoring and remote O&M, customers have multiple options such as WIFI-X, GPRS-X, 4G-X, RF or RS485. With the datalogger installed, customers can have access to Growatt Online Smart Service platform for reporting issues and troubleshooting.
