Australian distribution network company Endeavour Energy, which operates in New South Wales, has expanded its partnership with Israel’s mPrest to optimise its growing fleet of community battery energy storage systems (BESS).
At the core of the expanded partnership is the use of the Israeli software firm’s Distributed Energy Resource Management System (mDERMS). This will enable real-time monitoring and control of Endeavour Energy’s growing fleet of community batteries across New South Wales.
The mDERMS platform offers flexible integration mechanisms that work seamlessly with existing programmes and systems, providing dynamic solutions for grid and energy management challenges.
As such, the platform will also provide real-time optimisation of network assets, such as customer-owned technologies, such as rooftop solar PV and home batteries.

This will arm Endeavour Energy with advanced visibility, forecasting and control over local demand, generation, and grid constraints. It will also support the smart use of locally generated renewable energy.
Endeavour Energy’s general manager of Future Grid and Asset Management, Colin Crisafulli, said the expanded partnership will help increase opportunities for retailers and aggregators.
“This expanded partnership with mPrest will further enhance local grid resilience by increasing Customer Energy Resources hosting capacity as well as providing opportunities for retailers and aggregators to design new products and services for our customers,” Crisafulli said.
Endeavour Energy has taken significant steps by implementing mDERMS to manage its community microgrid and virtual power plant (VPP) in Bawley Point and Kioloa, located on the south coast of New South Wales.
Endeavour Energy targets 76 community BESS
Endeavour has been one of the major players in Australia’s community BESS space. It is working in tandem with the Australian government to deploy 76 systems across 33 suburbs in New South Wales.
Community batteries have become increasingly prominent in Australia, primarily because the country has the world’s highest solar energy generation per capita. Rooftop solar PV generation surpassed coal-fired generation at the end of 2024 and recently reached the 25GW mark.
The Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) has been supporting the development of community BESS via its Community Batteries for Household Solar programme, aiming to install 400 batteries nationwide.
This scheme has supported several Australian organisations deploying community BESS nationwide, including energy infrastructure company Jemena, network company Ausgrid and not-for-profit consultancy Yarra Energy Foundation.
Earlier this year, Yarra Energy Foundation said its Fitzroy North community BESS in Victoria generated AU$8,423 (US$5,272) in revenue, excluding goods and services tax (GST), for the 2023-24 financial year. The group discussed its findings within a guest blog on Energy-Storage.news in February 2025.
Alongside ARENA, Endeavour Energy is also working with Australian energy major Origin Energy to deliver 10 community batteries across Bargo, Blair Athol, Bungarribee, Cambewarra, East Bowral, Hammondville, Kiama Downs, Shell Cove, St Georges Basin and Macquarie Fields.
