Synergy has submitted a hybrid renewable energy project to Australia’s EPBC Act, featuring a 500MW battery energy storage system (BESS).

State-owned energy company Synergy has completed the 500MW/2,400MWh Collie Battery Energy Storage System (CBESS) in Western Australia, establishing Collie as home to Australia’s largest operational battery energy storage system (BESS).

French independent power producer (IPP) Neoen, which is now fully owned by Canadian investment firm Brookfield, has switched on the second phase of its 560MW/2,240MWh Collie BESS in Western Australia.
