Battery energy storage revenues in Australia’s National Electricity Market (NEM) fell 61% in September 2025 to AU$85,000/MW (US$56,712/MW) as price volatility eased across the grid, according to new research from Modo Energy.
The start of 2025 has seen new and updated BESS revenue indexes launched for Germany as well as other other European markets, by optimiser enspired and consultancies Clean Horizon, Aurora Energy Research and LCP Delta.
Modo Energy has signalled that 16.8GW of battery energy storage systems (BESS) will connect to Australia’s National Electricity Market (NEM) by the end of 2027.
Data from UK consultancy Cornwall Insight shows that profits for battery storage units in the country will rebound by 2026 after “an extended period of underperformance”.
