Energy-Storage.news was delighted to host a sponsored webinar on ultracapacitors with EITInnoEnergy a few weeks ago and you can now watch the whole thing on our YouTube channel.

EITInnoEnergy is a European Union-backed energy tech innovation accelerator, which means that its team get to not only think about and invest in some of the most exciting, potential industry- and world-changers, but also introduce and explain them to people like you, the Energy-Storage.news reader.

In this Energy-Storage.news webinar, EIT InnoEnergy and its ecosystem partners shed new light on the case for ultra-capacitors, the latest breakthroughs and the main segment areas – such as automotive, transportation, power generation and distribution, and industrial applications that include cranes, elevators, data centres or Internet of Things (IOT) devices – where they can play an essential or even game-changing role to help build a more efficient and sustainable future.

The webinar includes a presentation from EITInnoEnergy thematic leader for smart grid and energy storage Johan Söderbom, who sets the scene, followed by Thomas Houreau, analyst at Frost & Sullivan. Thomas and his team have written a white paper, ‘Unlocking New Possibilities Through Innovative Energy Storage: The Role of Ultracapacitors in the Energy Transition’, which you can download from EITInnoEnergy’s website here.

We also hear briefly from Johan Hellsing, a technical specialist at China Euro Vehicle Technology, Göteborg (CEVT), offering a third-party customer view on how ultracapacitors could impact the transport sector.

After the opening presentations, you can watch a lively roundtable discussion at which Johan, Johan and Thomas were joined by Energy-Storage.news editor Andy Colthorpe and representatives from two ultra cap manufacturers: Skeleton Technologies’ programme director Egert Valmra and NAWA Technologies’ co-founder and VP Ludovic Eveillard.

This roundtable is followed by a Q&A session with questions from the audience: everything from the role of hybridisation to the difference between supercapacitors and ultracapacitors to what the battery industry can learn from the manufacturing processes of capacitors – and vice versa – was discussed.

Many thanks to EITInnoEnergy and everyone else who took part, including the audience!
