Energy storage system and PV module manufacturer Solarwatt and PV inverter specialist Fronius have formed a partnership to supply each other’s products, covering five European countries and Australia.
Solarwatt told Energy-Storage.News this morning about the tie-up, which will include joint research and development (R&D) activities as well as adding Fronius’ products to the Solarwatt sales portfolio and vice versa.
Fronius’ inverters, which Solarwatt will now sell, are compatible with Solarwatt products including the smaller scale MyReserve MR500, MR800 for private households and businesses as well as the newly launched MyReserve Matrix, a modular unit which can be scaled up into the multi-megawatts. While it is still early days for the partnership, the pair said they will look to co-develop solutions in future.
The partnership will cover markets in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, the UK and Australia, with more countries to be added as opportunities arise.
Solarwatt CEO Detlef Neuhaus said that pairing up with Fronius gave his company further opportunities to work in larger-scale energy storage, with Solarwatt’s main focus to date having been on the residential market.
“Fronius and SOLARWATT have many interesting points of contact and a product portfolio that complements each other well. Thus far, we have mainly targeted private households,” Neuhaus said.
“With Fronius inverters and our MyReserve Matrix, we can now also offer customised and economically efficient solutions to business enterprises requiring PV-systems in higher power classes. Installers and municipal utilities may thereby extrapolate new customer groups.”
Meanwhile, Fronius Solar Energy business unit head Martin Hackl also spoke of the complementary nature of the two companies’ portfolios.
“For Fronius, the cooperation with SOLARWATT is the ideal complement to the existing portfolio surrounding the hybrid inverter Fronius Symo Hybrid and enables customers to enter the home storage market - both single-phased and three-phased - using a Fronius standard inverter like the Fronius Primo or Fronius Symo,” Hackl said.
