Experts from the Australian National University explain how battery storage installed at neighbourhood level can benefit a very wide range of stakeholders.
The city council of Melbourne, Australia, has committed AU$300,000 from its 2021 budget to fund a pilot scheme which could lead to the rollout of 5MW of community battery storage systems by 2024.
The locations for three ‘community battery’ projects have been announced by Australian electricity distribution company Ausgrid, set to be deployed next year.
