A 2.5MW / 4MWh demonstration system using novel energy storage technology based on a “carbon dioxide battery” has begun construction in Sardinia, Italy.

A deal covering co-development of projects in Chile and the wider Latin America region has been signed by Highview Power, provider and integrator of zero emissions liquid air energy storage (LAES) suitable for large-scale, long duration applications.

Enphase CEO Paul Nahi has said that the “unique” modularity of the company’s battery solution could be “incredibly valuable” to help it to meet the needs of customers in regions including Australia, where there is a “real economic case” for energy storage.
