Rural and distributed battery energy storage system (BESS) projects could be emerging as critical infrastructure in the US as grid reliability risks intensify nationwide.

China-headquartered energy storage firm Gotion and US power electronics manufacturer Richardson Electronics have partnered to manufacture BESS. It comes at a time when Chinese companies are starting to sell down stakes in US assets amid new FEOC rules.

Three companies, Energy Vault, Richardson Electronics, and Fluence, have made strategic moves to create a secure BESS equipment supply chain.
