New Zealand generator-retailer Genesis Energy has reached Final Investment Decision (FID) on the second stage of its Huntly battery energy storage system (BESS).

Genesis Energy has started constructing a 100MW/200MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) on New Zealand’s North Island.

Saft, a subsidiary of French energy giant TotalEnergies, will provide Genesis Energy in New Zealand with a 100MW/200MWh utility-scale battery energy storage system (BESS).
