PV module manufacturer Trina Solar has deployed its first energy storage project in Italy, for its project development arm.

Eni Plenitude, part of the large oil and gas major Eni, has put into operation a 15MW/9MWh battery storage unit in Italy.

New Zealand state-owned energy company Meridian Energy has committed to a 100MW battery storage project with BESS to be provided by Saft.

Italy’s transmission system operator Terna has awarded five-year contracts for battery energy storage systems (BESS) to provide Fast Reserve grid services in an oversubscribed pilot auction.

TERNA, operator of Italy’s electricity transmission system, is set to open up a pilot scheme in which up to 230MW of aggregated nominal capacity including energy storage could supply frequency and voltage services to the grid.
