Kehua has announced the grid connection of the first 500MW/1000MWh phase of a 795MW/1600MWh centralized energy storage project in Shandong province, currently China’s largest electrochemical energy storage plant in terms of single project capacity.

Kehua provided the centralized energy storage system for the project, including 80 sets of 5MW energy storage skid solution with converters and transformers. The product supports 110% overload, high/low voltage ride-through, VSG/PQ/VF/black start functions, millisecond grid power schedule response and strong grid adaptability, guaranteeing safe and stable operation. The system adopts IP55 protection level and an intelligent forced air-cooling design, which makes it easy to adapt to complex environments with multiple internal protection. The maximum efficiency of 99.03% can greatly increase power generation capacity and improve the ROI over the product’s long-term operation.

The product also adopts the integrated design of energy storage converter and transformer. With less equipment and a smaller footprint, with pre-fabricated delivery, it can achieve high efficiency in transportation, installation, commissioning and O&M, which effectively reduces LCOS costs and delivers more value to customers.

The project not only effectively guarantees the grid-connected consumption of the surrounding new energy stations, but also provides flexible regulation services such as peak shifting and frequency regulation for the grid. With the first phase operational, the one-time charging capacity will reach 10 million degrees, which can fulfill the electricity demands of some 5,000 families for one month.
