JinkoSolar has announced the delivery of its first SunTera Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) to Sub-Saharan Africa, where it will be installed as part of an ambitious solar project at Nigeria’s iconic National Theatre, located in Iganmu, Lagos State.
The project, designed and executed by the company’s local partner, Solarmate Engineering, marks a significant step forward in Nigeria’s transition to sustainable energy, combining a PV system and BESS.
The National Theatre will deploy Jinko high-performance products, including the all-black 425wp module, ensuring a reliable and consistent supply of clean energy. The BESS component will feature a capacity of 2.0MW/4.8MWh, with the overall aim of enhancing energy efficiency and ensuring the theatre operates with minimal interruptions to power supply.
The project owner, Sanef Creatives, in collaboration with Solarmate Engineering, is committed to completing this groundbreaking solar PV+BESS initiative, setting a precedent for future green energy projects across the region.
