Tier-1 battery manufacturer EVE Energy will be the first to mass-produce lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery cells with more than 600Ah capacity for stationary applications.
The cells are part of EVE Energy’s Mr Flagship series of products and solutions for battery energy storage system (BESS) applications. Mr Big is a 628Ah cell, which is more than double the industry standard 314Ah format. Meanwhile, Mr Giant is a 20-ft containerised system with up to 5MWh energy storage capacity.

As early as 2022, EVE took the lead in releasing the large iron-lithium battery – Mr. Big. Now, while other companies are planning to produce cells of comparable size to Mr. Big, EVE Energy will be the first to enter the market. The large-capacity cell will enter mass production in December this year.
At the same time, EVE Energy has furthered its international presence with the September opening of regional headquarters in the US, enhancing its service capabilities and enabling it to conduct rigorous product quality inspections.
EVE Energy is also redefining the battery manufacturing landscape in another important way, offering a comprehensive range of integrated services throughout the entire product lifecycle.
That means everything from production and installation to ageing testing, along with transportation, local warehouse inspections, and after-sales support through EVE’s robust service model.
Why so big?
Energy networks worldwide are hungry to modernise and adapt to the growth of renewable energy and the need to keep the supply of power stable and secure.
The storage of energy is vital to achieving those goals. A new report from the International Energy Agency (IEA) found that tripling global renewable energy capacity by 2030 in line with targets agreed at COP28, and that the deployment of energy storage, as well as investment in the grid, is essential.
The IEA forecasts a need for 1.5TWh of storage by the end of this decade, which again, is ambitious, but achievable.
The energy storage industry has taken rapid technological strides in recent years to enable that rapid deployment. At the same time, the falling costs of batteries make large-scale, bulk storage of electricity for the grid and utilities an economically feasible investment.
Customers are demanding BESS solutions with high availability, high efficiency, high safety and increasingly, high energy density.
EVE Energy was ranked second in the world for energy storage shipments in the first half of 2024 by research firm Infolink, and with over 5,600 senior researchers and more than 8,500 patents, EVE Energy is committed to advancing technology leadership and focused on providing high-performance, safe, and reliable products.
Mr Big and Mr Giant, first introduced by EVE Energy as early as 2022, showcase the company’s technical prowess while offering performance advantages over the more common 314Ah cells. With the Mr Flagship series, EVE Energy has charted a new direction for the development of the energy storage industry.
Using prismatic LFP cells twice the size of the more common 314Ah format means half the number of cells, half the number of connection points and half the number of overall system components.
That results in significant performance and maintenance efficiency improvements that the fast-growing energy storage market deserves.
Mr Big is a revolutionary product poised to redefine energy storage solutions with its emphasis on efficiency, simplicity, and safety when deliveries begin soon from EVE’s production lines in Jingmen, China.
Mr. Big uses EVE’s fourth-generation high-speed stacking technology, achieving a round-trip efficiency of 96%. It also uses thickened composite membraneand significantly enhances battery safety.
The separator technology also has a much greater thermal shutdown effect with coating particles that melt when a critical temperature is reached, thereby averting potential hazards. The coating is also double-sided, giving the separators increased safety.
Mr Giant is pretty powerful, too: it features EVE Energy’s proprietary 3T high-efficiency thermal management technology, which enables a more uniform system temperature, solving the heat generation problem of large-capacity batteries and improving energy efficiency at both cell and system levels.
In addition to a big product, EVE Energy also has the production volumes to meet demand from the growing industry. As of the end of June 2024, it had delivered a cumulative 70GWh to the global market, while the company’s new 60GWh gigafactory is on track to begin production before the end of this year. A new factory in Malaysia will go live by December 2025.
Ranked as a BloombergNEF (BNEF) Tier-1 energy storage manufacturer, EVE Energy’s list of customers and partners already reads like a list of the industry’s top names.
EVE Energy’s approach of building up global and regional organisations while adhering to a customer-centric approach to its global sales and service network means it can respond to market demands in terms of both scale of production and quality of product.
