Intilion has just tied up with CATL for sodium-ion BESS deployments in Europe, following Alfen’s similar move in July, while Merus Power tells us it is in the process of integrating with the OEM’s new product. 

Activity in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) continues to accelerate, with two separate c.600MWh projects completed in Bulgaria by Solarpro & CATL and Sunotec and Sungrow, plus around 800MWh of capacity progressed across Romania, Estonia, Lithuania, and Finland.

Rolls-Royce and Fluence have secured BESS orders in Latvia and Poland, respectively, while CATL has partnered with Merus Power for 3GWh of deployments across Northern Europe.

A busy week of large-scale BESS projects news from the Eastern side of Europe, with projects reaching commissioning, final investment decision, technology procurement and acquisition, led by KNESS’ 2GWh partnership with Hithium in Ukraine.

Two Finland BESS project announcements, with Exilion ordering grid-forming energy storage technology from Merus Power and Nala Renewables ordering units from Sungrow for 2-hour systems.

Developer Merus Power has delivered and commissioned a 38MW/43MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) in Lappeenranta, Finland.
