Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) has embarked on the first of several planned large-scale battery energy storage system (BESS) projects in Australia.

Financial close has been reached for a 25MW / 100MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) project in Belgium which has also been successful in a grid capacity auction alongside gas-fired power plants.  

While interconnection queues for America’s electric transmission and distribution operators are “swelling up” with growing numbers of energy storage projects, some of the big challenges ahead include enabling fair market participation for both standalone storage and storage paired with generation.
