Portugal-based energy company EDP has partnered with zero-carbon heat and power provider Rondo Energy to electrify industrial heat.

Portugal-based utility EDP has received clearance to deploy a 1MWh vanadium redox flow battery (VRFB) system as part of a hybrid energy storage project at the site of a retiring gas plant in Asturias, Spain.

There exists a strong potential for energy storage to provide ancillary services in the Iberian Peninsula’s booming renewables market, but regulatory stability should be provided to encourage the sector’s growth, a panel has suggested.
