Trina Storage has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Pacific Green Energy Group to supply up to 5GWh of battery energy storage systems between 2026 and 2028.

The agreement will see Trina Storage, the energy storage division of Trinasolar, provide advanced grid-scale battery systems across multiple sites in Australia and international markets.

Pacific Green Energy Group will oversee the development and project delivery of the battery installations, which will be capable of storing and dispatching up to 5 billion watt-hours of electricity into the grid.

Helena Li, president of Trinasolar, said the partnership demonstrates the scale and confidence driving collaboration between the two companies.

“This MoU marks a major milestone for both Trina Storage and Pacific Green in the global renewable energy landscape, including Australia,” Li said. “Together, we are combining innovation, global expertise, and local execution to enable a more resilient and sustainable energy future.”

The supply agreement builds on Pacific Green’s expanding presence in the Australian energy storage market, where the company has been developing multiple gigawatt-hour-scale projects. Pacific Green recently raised AU$77 million (US$50 million) to fund its Australian battery energy storage system development pipeline, which includes projects across multiple states.

Pacific Green currently manages a global storage pipeline totalling 11GWh, with 7GWh located in Australia and 4GWh across European markets. The company has secured several major offtake agreements in the Australian market, including a 1.5GWh tolling deal with Zen Energy covering three battery energy storage systems across Australia.

Scott Poulter, chief executive of Pacific Green, said the partnership with Trina Storage enables efficient delivery of the company’s growing global pipeline.

“Together, we’re accelerating the deployment of projects that support the clean energy transition,” Poulter stated.

The collaboration leverages Trinasolar’s established footprint in Australia, following previous partnerships including a 1.5GW solar module supply agreement with Marubeni Australia. Trina Storage has been active in the development side of Australia’s energy storage market, with projects including a 1GWh battery energy storage system that was fast-tracked in Victoria.

The agreement also encompasses Pacific Green’s Limestone Coast North Energy Park project in South Australia, which represents a pivotal development for the company with an enterprise value of AU$460 million and planned installed capacity of 250MW/500MWh.

Trina Storage operates as a vertically integrated battery technology provider with capabilities spanning battery cell research and development, manufacturing, and system integration.

The company’s portfolio includes energy storage batteries, battery energy storage cabinets, energy storage converters, residential energy storage solutions, and integrated intelligent energy management systems.
