The European Commission has approved a €1.1 billion (US$1.2 billion) scheme from the government of Hungary to support large-scale energy storage projects.

The European Commission has given the go-ahead to a €150 million (US$160 million) state aid scheme for renewable energy and energy storage in Slovenia.

Eesti Energia, a utility based in Estonia, will install the country’s first grid-scale battery energy storage system (BESS).

The Ministry of Energy in Hungary will provide grants for the deployment of energy storage projects, with some 1GWh targeted by 2025.

The Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development in Croatia has issued a €60 million (US$66 million) Call for Funds which seeks projects for renewables, energy efficiency and energy storage totalling 20MWh.
