Battery storage project will deliver nearly AU$10 million annual electricity system cost savings in Australia’s Northern Territory.

A state-owned power company has begun the construction phase of a 35MW grid-scale battery storage project in Australia’s Northern Territory.

Eni Australia, a subsidiary of Italian oil and gas firm Eni, which has been active in Australia since 2000, has acquired a 33.7MW construction-ready solar-plus-storage project in the Northern Territory of Australia, from Katherine Solar, a joint venture between Australia’s Epuron and UK-based firm Island Green Power.

A local government-owned utility in Australia’s Northern Territory is set to go ahead with a 5MW / 3.3MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) in the town of Alice Springs.

Energy Renaissance is constructing a 1GWh per annum lithium-ion battery storage manufacturing plant at Darwin, in the Northern Territory of Australia, while CEFC has financed a 2Mtpa lithium concentrate mining project in Western Australia.
