Pacific Green Technologies has applied for approval under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation (EPBC) Act, for its 1GW/2.5GWh Portland BESS in Victoria, Australia.

India and Spain both saw major developments in their respective pumped hydro energy storage (PHES) sectors yesterday (26 September).

PV module manufacturer Trina Solar has submitted a planning application for a 660MW/2,640MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) in Wellesley, in the Shire of Harvey, Western Australia.

Six energy storage projects, totalling 3,626MWh of energy, have secured support via the Australian government’s Capacity Investment Scheme (CIS).

AEMO has said that despite concerns about grid reliability in 2027-28, energy storage projects will help alleviate some of these concerns.
