RWE broke ground on Crowned Heron 1 and 2, and Cartwheel 1 in October 2024. At the time, Hanson Wood, head of development, utility-scale renewables for RWE Clean Energy, said the projects marked a “significant step” in RWE’s commitment to bolstering energy infrastructure in the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT).

The Ventasso BESS utilises 33 containerised units, and RWE claimed the project supported approximately 100 jobs during its construction.

In late 2025, RWE Clean Energy commissioned the Stoneridge solar-plus-storage project in Texas. It was completed in line with a timeline proposed by RWE CEO Markus Krebber, who announced the project’s completion.
