New Zealand generator-retailer Genesis Energy has reached Final Investment Decision (FID) on the second stage of its Huntly battery energy storage system (BESS).

Allianz GI, Luxcara and Return have acquired BESS projects and portfolios in Germany, Finland and Spain; Low Carbon, OX2, Cero Generation and Revera have taken FIDs on projects in Poland, Finland and the UK; and NHOA Energy has received a 600MWh order in Italy. All in all, the projects total at least 3.7GWh of capacity.

Fluence has penned its largest battery energy storage system deal globally for a 2,000MWh battery storage project owned by Australia’s AGL.

Australian energy major AGL Energy disclosed in its half-year results that it intends to make a final investment decision (FID) over the next 18 months for 1.4GW of utility-scale battery energy storage systems (BESS).
