Construction on a 550MW/6GWh pumped hydro energy storage project in Estonia will begin in summer 2024 after it was given the green light by regulators.

A €600,000 grant from Enterprise Estonia and KredEx has been given to a pumped hydro energy storage project in the Baltic state.

State-owned Estonian energy company Eesti Energia is planning to build a 225MW pumped hydro energy storage facility, as part of a wider push to become independent of Russian energy.
