Utility and independent power producer (IPP) Engie has started commercial operations of a 139MW/638MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) in the northern region of Antofagasta, Chile.
Spain-headquartered Ingeteam has landed a deal to provide power conversion system (PCS) equipment for a solar-plus-storage in Chile with, according to its developer Grenergy, the world’s largest BESS.
Optimising co-located BESS is “much more complicated” than standalone and few companies can do it well, panellists on Day 2 of Solar Finance & Investment Europe (SFIE) said.
