Georgia Power update to its integrated resource plan (IRP) would see the company procure up to 1GW of battery storage resources.

Georgia Power has filed its 2022 integrated resource plan (IRP), highlighting the decreasing economic viability of it coal and seeking to add resources including renewables, gas and battery storage.   

US utility company Georgia Power has approval from regulator Georgia Public Service Commission (PCS) for the first project in its 80MW portfolio of ‘build, own, operate’ standalone battery energy storage systems (BESS).
