Anker SOLIX, in partnership with RESINC Solar & Batteries, has announced the installation of clean energy systems at two Surf Life Saving Clubs as part of the Cheaper Home Batteries Program, the landmark projects demonstrating how innovative technology and community-focused partnerships can directly benefit grassroots organisations.
At Umina Surf Life Saving Club, a newly installed 40kW solar PV and 20kWh battery system donated by the two companies will significantly reduce the club’s electricity bills, freeing up vital funds to support lifesaving operations and local programs. The donation forms part of the broader Cheaper Home Batteries Program, launched on July 1, which supports households, small businesses and community organisations in adopting affordable, sustainable energy solutions.
Club President Kerry Armstrong welcomed the installation, noting the immediate benefits for the club’s operational costs and environmental footprint. “This generous support will make a real difference. It helps us focus more resources on what matters, keeping our community safe.”
Two days earlier, the North Kirra Surf Life Saving Club became the first in Australia to install the largest Anker SOLIX X1 battery system to date. The 50kWh system, also donated by RESINC, delivers state-of-the-art energy storage capability, enabling the club to significantly reduce its reliance on the grid while improving energy resilience during emergencies. “The new batteries add a next level of power storage that will assist the Club going forward, reducing the power bills and putting money back to the Surf Club and those members by the beach”, commented Jared Clark, representing member of the Club.
The projects mark a strong start to the Cheaper Home Batteries Program, which was officially launched by Chris Bowen, Minister for Climate Change and Energy. He underscored the program’s role in accelerating Australia’s transition to cleaner, more reliable energy, commenting: “The Cheaper Home Batteries Program is about helping everyday Australians, whether in their homes or in their communities, access the benefits of solar battery storage. Batteries can reduce emissions and running costs for community organisations who provide wonderful services but use a lot of electricity, operating in an emergency at times of natural disasters.”
RESINC’s longstanding commitment to community energy is unmatched. Over the past nine years, the social enterprise has contributed over $750,000 worth of solar and battery systems to Australian community groups, including 24 Surf Life Saving Clubs.
