Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) has agreed on BESS and hybrid solar developments with the Government of Andhra Pradesh.

Hassan Allam Utilities and Infinity Power have signed agreements with Egypt’s Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy and the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company for two renewable energy projects in the country.  

India’s energy storage industry is at a turning point as developers, financiers, and policymakers work to define viable business models for the next wave of large-scale battery projects. 

UK power generator Drax is set to acquire three BESS projects from York-based developer Apatura, with a combined capacity of 260MW.

Partnerships will determine whether India can emerge as a global hub for battery manufacturing and energy storage.

Spanish IPP Grenergy has begun construction on a 340MW solar project with 960MWh of energy storage in El Cabrero, located in Chile’s Biobío region. 

According to the latest report by clean energy market research firm Mercom India, India achieved a cumulative energy storage capacity of 490MWh by the end of June 2025. 

Following the recent notification, the Rajasthan government will develop 500MW/2,000MWh of standalone battery energy storage systems (BESS) with a four-hour single-cycle configuration and extended operational life.
