Some proposed battery storage projects have been cancelled in the US and Canada since the start of this year, after facing opposition from local communities.

Developers of two large-scale battery projects in Massachusetts have appeared before the public at Energy Facilities Siting Board hearings.

A community engagement event was hosted last week for a solar-plus-storage project under construction in Denton County, Texas, pairing 275MW of solar PV with 125MW of battery energy storage. 

Another three developers with more than a gigawatt-hour of wins in Hawaiian Electric’s (HECO’s) massive solar-plus-storage and standalone energy storage tenders have gone public with size and location details of their proposed projects.

Battery energy storage deployed at Cleve Hill, the largest solar farm planned in the UK to date, will be installed and operated in line with a safety plan agreed with local fire services and the national Health and Safety Executive.

A local authority in England has unveiled two landmark solar-plus-storage projects on existing landfill sites which aim to be the first of their kind in the UK.
