San Diego-based home battery storage company NeoVolta has formed NeoVolta Power, a joint venture (JV) to develop a US battery energy storage system (BESS) manufacturing platform in Pendergrass, Georgia.
The JV is between NeoVolta, system integrator PotisEdge and solar PV company Longi. In November 2025, Longi acquired approximately 62% of PotisEdge through an equity acquisition, capital increase, and voting rights, thereby gaining sole control of the firm and marking the Chinese solar manufacturer’s entry into the energy storage space.
At the time, Longi and PotisEdge characterised the deal as a partnership through which Longi will launch its ‘Energy Storage One-Stop Solution’, as it now covers solar, hydrogen and energy storage. Longi stated that its energy storage solution will initially be implemented in key markets including the UK, Germany, Italy, and Spain.
Also in November 2025, NeoVolta entered into agreements for a US$13 million private placement financing anchored by Infinite Grid Capital (IGC), which it noted would be used in part, to advance the BESS manufacturing plant in Georgia.

The Georgia facility is built for an initial annual production capacity of 2GWh, with the potential to scale up to 8GWh. It is scheduled to start mass production by mid-2026.
Situated along the state’s I-85 corridor, the plant will initially concentrate on assembling prismatic-cell battery packs and integrating DC containers, supporting around 89 workers at its steady-state initial capacity.
NeoVolta argues that developing domestic BESS manufacturing significantly broadens its target market, enhances its growth prospects, and strengthens its long-term importance.
NeoVolta holds a 60% controlling interest in the NeoVolta Power JV, PotisEdge holds a 20% ownership interest, and the remaining 20% is held by a group of “strategic investors providing additional technical and operational support.”
Initial production is anticipated to focus more on utility-scale systems, while C&I systems are expected to capture an increasing share as demand rises. The platform is built to accommodate various system configurations and product formats, aligning with changing market needs.
As mentioned earlier, the facility will not produce battery cells directly. Under FEOC rules, US downstream projects or upstream manufacturing cannot receive material support from prohibited foreign entities (PFEs) above specific thresholds if they wish to qualify for tax credits.
Longi is a leading supplier of crystalline silicon modules in the solar PV sector. Chinese PV manufacturers have faced oversupply and declining profitability due to years of extensive investment and rapid industry growth.
NeoVolta did not specify the source of the cells to be assembled. PotisEdge does not manufacture battery cells; Longi, facing similar conditions to many other Chinese solar PV manufacturers, as of Q3 2025, was unprofitable.
The Energy Storage Summit USA will be held from 24-25 March 2026, in Dallas, TX. It features keynote speeches and panel discussions on topics like FEOC challenges, power demand forecasting, and managing the BESS supply chain. For complete information, visit the Energy Storage Summit USA website.
