Jinko ESS has announced that it has secured 5MWh grid-scale energy storage projects in Italy, marking its official entry into the country’s utility-scale storage market. The projects will deploy the company’s G2 5MWh liquid-cooled containerized systems in October 2025 and March 2026 respectively, providing frequency regulation and renewable energy integration services for the Italian national grid to accelerate the EU goal of 40% renewable energy by 2030.
Engineered for Italy’s diverse climate – featuring 40°C temperatures in the south and -5°C conditions in the north – the G2 system utilizes intelligent liquid cooling technology to maintain cell temperature differentials within ±2.5°C across all climates. Its multi-layer protection ensures maximum safety during extreme weather events, while 94% round-trip efficiency coupled with a 15% reduction in auxiliary power consumption maximizes investment returns.
Roberto Murgioni, Jinko ESS GM for Europe, commented: “Securing this project in Italy validates our southern Europe localization strategy. This breakthrough consolidates our regional footprint, with Jinko ESS remaining committed to enabling the country’s clean energy transition.”
