Fluence has announced a solar-plus-storage project in Arizona, while Greenflash Infrastructure adds to its Texas BESS portfolio.

Fluence partners with Torch Clean Energy on 640MWh BESS

Battery storage firm Fluence and IPP Torch Clean Energy announced the Winchester project, a solar-plus-storage facility being developed by Torch Clean Energy in Cochise County, Arizona.

Winchester will use Fluence’s Gridstack Pro 5000 energy storage solution and is expected to be completed in early 2027. Fluence launched the 5MWh, 20-foot ISO standard container version of its Gridstack product, in 2024.

Located alongside two 80MW solar arrays, the Winchester project will deliver a total of 160MW/ 640MWh of energy storage capacity across two identical systems.

Once operational, the project will aid in grid balancing and accommodate forecasted load growth in the region. Additionally, it will promote economic development and boost local infrastructure investments in Cochise County.

Notably, the Gridstack Pro 5000 solution will feature domestically produced enclosures, inverters, and thermal management systems, enabling the entire solar-plus-storage facility to qualify for domestic content tax credits.

In August, Fluence announced its third-quarter financial results for the fiscal year ending 30 June 2025. The company reported a quarterly revenue of US$602.5 million, representing a 24.7% increase from US$483 million a year earlier. Adjusted EBITDA for Q3 2025 was US$27.4 million, compared to US$15.6 million in the same period of the previous year.

Fluence has posted a profit based on GAAP gross margins each quarter starting from Q1 2023, though there was a small decrease from 13.1% in Q2 to 12.7% in Q3 2025.

The company confirmed its previous FY2025 revenue forecast of US$2.6 billion to US$2.8 billion, but now anticipates being closer to the lower end of that range.

In the 2024 global BESS system integrators ranking by shipments, also released in August, by market research firm Wood Mackenzie, Fluence dropped out of the top five.

In the same month, the company, with ACE Engineering, opened an automated battery storage manufacturing facility in Vietnam’s Bac Giang Province.

The facility, with an annual manufacturing capacity of 35GWh, will produce Fluence’s Gridstack Pro and Smartstack energy storage systems through fully automated processes aimed at improving productivity and quality control.

Greenflash Infrastructure acquires 400MWh Texas BESS

H.I.G. Capital-backed energy platform, Greenflash Infrastructure has acquired Rock Rose, a 200MW/400MWh standalone BESS in Fort Bend County, Texas, from Advanced Power.

Rock Rose is fully permitted, in pre-Notice-to-Proceed (NTP) status, and it is expected to receive NTP in 2026, with commercial operations targeted for mid-2027.

Greenflash says that the project was chosen due to its interconnection position, transmission access, and ability to enhance grid reliability and flexible dispatch.

The acquisition also supports Greenflash’s strategy to deploy utility-scale battery projects across the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) market.

Earlier this month, the company closed a hybrid tax capital and debt financing for Project Soho, a 400MW/800MWh standalone battery storage project in Brazoria County, Texas.

Greenflash states that the project is the largest standalone BESS currently being built in Texas. It is progressing faster than planned, with energisation expected in Q1 2026 and commercial operations beginning in Q2 2026.

The company’s website, although sparse, highlights the announcement of its acquisition by H.I.G., noting that it was completed by an H.I.G. affiliate, in September of 2024.

Managing Partner and CEO of Greenflash, Josh Prueher, founded and served as CEO of FlexGen. While at FlexGen, Prueher also served as CFO at Broad Reach Power, which was acquired by ENGIE in 2023.

Prueher currently serves as CEO at XGS Energy and Greenflash.

XGS has a proprietary geothermal system, which recently received funding from venture capital firm VoLo Earth Ventures.

Energy-Storage.news’ publisher Solar Media will host the 12th edition of the Solar & Storage Finance  USA event on 21-22 October 2025 in New York.

Panellists will discuss the fate of US solar and storage in a post-subsidy world, the evolving economics of standalone BESS and de-risking solar and storage supply chains.

Attendees are encouraged to respond to an anonymous survey on the US solar and storage sector, that will shape discussions at the summit. Tickets for the event are available on the official website.
