Australia’s biggest utility company looks set to be in ownership of the country’s biggest battery storage facility.

Three solar power plant projects in development in Alberta will add nearly 300MW of battery storage to the province’s grid.

A permit has been granted by local authorities in California for a battery storage project of up to 2,000MW output, which could host both lithium-ion and flow battery systems. 

Renewable energy developer Neoen last month published its plan for a new project in New South Wales, Australia, called the ‘Great Western Battery’ which will be among the country’s largest battery energy storage system facilities to date.
