AES Andes has received environmental review approval for a 560MW project in Chile converting an existing coal plant to renewable energy and energy storage, using a molten salt-based technology.

Norway-based thermal energy storage company Kyoto Group has signed a letter of intent (LOI) to deploy an 88MWh system in Spain in the second half of 2023.

AES Andes, a utility operating in South America owned by AES Corporation, has revealed plans to convert 560MW of thermal power generation into a molten salt-based energy storage plant in Chile.
