Jinko ESS has announced a major milestone in the West African market by securing a contract to supply 15MWh of its SunGiga liquid-cooled energy storage systems to Senegal, the systems to be deployed across 45 remote villages. The project will deliver reliable night-time electricity to tens of thousands of residents and address long-standing challenges of power shortages and unstable supply.
Given the scattered locations of the villages, limited infrastructure and the region’s extremely hot climate, Jinko ESS provided a highly customized solution. The SunGiga 261kWh storage system features a high level of integration and a modular design that significantly reduces transportation complexity and installation costs in remote areas, making it ideal for decentralized rural off grid applications. Equipped with an intelligent liquid-cooled thermal management system, SunGiga ensures temperature uniformity and operational stability even under West Africa’s harsh heat conditions.
Asif S.W., head of sales for the MEA and CA regions, commented: “The Senegal project marks an important milestone in our commitment to expanding energy accessibility across Africa, which is a key continent in the global energy transition, and Jinko ESS will continue to focus on real-world needs and localized applications. Through technological innovation and scenario-based solutions, we aim to help more remote communities overcome electricity shortages while supporting the region’s renewable energy development and grid optimization.”
