HyperStrong has announced the commissioning of a 250MW/1000MWh standalone energy storage station in Jiuquan, Gansu province. One of Northwest China’s largest standalone energy storage facilities, the project marks a major milestone in advancing renewable integration and grid modernization across the region.

The project plays a vital role in promoting renewable energy consumption, optimizing the regional generation mix and enhancing grid flexibility and stability. By relieving transmission bottlenecks and reinforcing peak-shaving capacity, the station supports safer and more efficient operation of the regional grid, accelerating the energy transition across Northwest China.

The project is supported by the HyperStrong AI Platform, which optimizes market participation to maximize returns. Proprietary price forecasting models have been shown to increase revenue by more than 20% compared to conventional trading methods and the platform continuously analyzes real-time market fluctuations and grid conditions to execute optimized charge–discharge schedules. Coordinated multi-day scheduling and frequency regulation services further unlock value across multiple electricity market segments.

The Jiuquan station is equipped with 200 units of HyperStrong’s HyperBlock III 5MWh liquid-cooled energy storage system, engineered to perform reliably during harsh winters, where temperatures can drop to –37°C with significant daily swings. The intelligent liquid-cooling system ensures stable operation of batteries and PCS throughout their lifecycle, significantly extending service life. AI-driven thermal management further reduces auxiliary power consumption and lowers operational costs, with a comprehensive safety system, featuring multi-dimensional monitoring, real-time diagnostics and multi-layer fire protection, ensuring secure and reliable operation under all conditions.

The project was completed on an accelerated timeline, showcasing HyperStrong’s integrated engineering and project management capabilities, the HyperBlock III’s integrated design, incorporating batteries, thermal management, fire protection and control systems, reducing on-site installation time and physical footprint. Using an end-to-end project management system, the company delivered and installed all energy storage units and auxiliary equipment within just two months.

With a global portfolio of more than 300 projects and over 40GWh of deployed capacity, HyperStrong continues to lead in AI-enhanced operations, market participation and smart energy trading, delivering lasting customer value and supporting the global shift to clean energy.
