Hoymiles has officially launched two strategic Power Conversion System (PCS) products during the 2026 edition of the Energy Storage International Conference and Expo (ESIE) in Beijing, the release of its 460kW high-flexibility string PCS and 1725kW grid-forming PCS signalling a major expansion of the company’s utility-scale energy storage portfolio.

The new products underscore Hoymiles’ ongoing strategic evolution from expertise in microinverters to a comprehensive provider of solar and storage solutions, building on its 14 years of power electronics experience.

During his opening speech to attendees, CEO Dr. Yang Bo commented: “The energy storage industry is shifting from policy-driven growth to market-driven value creation. Competition is no longer about standalone equipment; it is about full-scenario solutions and lifecycle value. Hoymiles proactively responds to this challenge by upgrading our technology and global service ecosystem.”

The two new products address critical pain points in the industry, including system compatibility, thermal management and grid stability.

460kW High-Flexibility String PCS

Designed to eliminate the “single point of failure” risk common in traditional centralized power plants, the 460kW string PCS offers seamless integration with both string PCS-MV station and AC-block container.

  • Thermal Efficiency: Utilizing advanced liquid cooling technology, the product maintains full-load operation even with water temperatures at 60°C. Internal temperature variance is kept within 2°C, extending the lifespan of core components by over 20%.
  • Peak Performance: Featuring a three-level topology and hybrid Silicon Carbide (SiC) modules, the PCS achieves a peak efficiency of over 99%, increasing annualized returns by an estimated 1.5%.

1725kW Grid-Forming PCS

With power grids increasingly strained by large-scale renewable integration, the 1725kW PCS is engineered to provide robust grid-forming support with industry-leading resilience.

  • Minimized Derating for Less Footprint: Compared to traditional 1250kW grid-forming solutions, the high-power 1725kW PCS significantly reduces power derating. This allows project developers to achieve the same total capacity with fewer units, resulting in 30% less system footprint.
  • Active Power & Frequency Support: The unit delivers an ultra-fast response, with active power startup in just 5ms and a total response time under 100ms, effectively mitigating frequency fluctuations.
  • Black Start & Off-Grid Synergy: Equipped with black start capability, the system can reboot the grid independently. It supports multi-PCS parallel control in off-grid mode and features sophisticated inrush current control for transformers and line impedance.

Following the products’ unveiling, Hoymiles signed a strategic cooperation agreement with TÜV SÜD, the partnership focusing on the testing and certification of grid-forming energy storage products, research into standard systems and global market access.
