Sunworks, the installation arm of PV manufacturing start-up, Solar3D, has begun offering battery storage systems in its solar power projects.
Sunworks’ chief executive Abe Emard said battery storage was the next “game changer” in the PV industry.
He said that although battery units would not be suitable for all projects, the inclusion of storage in solar systems offered owners the opportunity to maximise the return on their investment.
Jim Nelson, CEO of Solar3D, added: "The solar systems market is experiencing rapid growth, as evidence by the growth of our own SUNworks division. However, for solar to become a primary and reliable source of energy, it must also be useful when the sun is not shining. Battery storage systems solve some of these issues. We are excited to roll out this solution as a new revenue stream in delivering more value to our current and future customers.”
Sunworks specialises in agricultural, commercial, and residential PV installations, delivering systems ranging from 2.5kW to 25MW in size. Solar3D is pioneering the development of three-dimensional PV cells.
