There have been modest year-on-year increases in the number of PV installers in Germany and the UK offering energy storage to their customers according to a survey by EUPD Research.
The firm has just published its latest annual PV InstallerMonitor report, which surveyed installers in Germany, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Australia and the UK. It found that a high proportion of German installers, 77%, are now offering energy storage systems, up by 4% from the previous year. Meanwhile, a much lower percentage of UK installers are providing storage systems, just 18%. However, this too was a rise from the previous year when the proportion stood at 12%.
Germany’s energy storage manufacturers appear to have outgrown their domestic market, despite it being the world’s biggest sales market for storage solutions by some distance.
“…The [German] market is no longer able to absorb the large number of players and their products, which means they are increasingly positioning themselves internationally,” EUPD project manager Hannah Schmole said.
